Lynn Carson was raised in North Dakota. On the farm, Lynn loved to repair anything that was broken. In 1967, after his career in the US Air Force, he moved to Gillette and started his career as a mechanic. Lynn perfected this craft after working for D&I Motors (the GM dealership) and Stockman's Motors (the Ford dealership). During this period, Gillette had only three independently run auto repair shops. Lynn realized he could fulfill his dream of opening his own shop.
On August 1st, 1973, Lynn started his own shop as Lynn's Auto Repair. Lynn’s auto repair shop is the oldest independently run auto repair that has been serving Gillette and the surrounding areas.
Lynn married Dottie on November 30, 1968, and had two sons - Nathan and Jason. Both the boys had an interest in auto repair, just like their father. Lynn’s sons spent countless hours on weekends watching their father working on anything and everything. Nathan eagerly continued learning how to work on vehicles. He spent a lot of time with his father to learn and try to perfect the craft of repairing automobiles. Nathan runs and operates Lynn’s Auto Repair today, taking the reins from Lynn after his retirement.
